  • Not always. Paint colors may appear different before firing. Final colors develop during the glazing and kiln-firing process

  • Yes! A regular #2 pencil can be used to lightly sketch your design on the pottery before painting.

    The pencil marks will burn off during firing.

  • Underglaze pencils are available upon request as part of the Design Tool Pack.

    Unlike a regular pencil, underglaze pencil lines do not burn away during firing, making them great for:

    • Outlines

    • Lettering

    • Detailed drawings

    • Fine design work

  • A writer bottle helps create fine lines and detailed designs.

    Writer bottles are great for:

    • Names

    • Dots

    • Lettering

    • Borders

    • Patterns

    • Decorative details

    For best results, apply darker colors over lighter colors rather than lighter colors over darker colors.

    Simply place the transfer paper between your pottery and your design, trace over the design, and a guide will transfer onto the pottery for painting.

    Remove the tape before returning your piece for firing.

  • Yes. Writer bottles, stencils, transfer paper, painter's tape, and underglaze pencils should be returned with your painted pottery piece when it is ready for firing.

  • Most finished pieces are ready approximately one week after being returned for firing.

  • Yes. Pottery pieces glazed and fired by Get Fired Up Studio are food safe unless otherwise noted.

  • Yes! Free porch pickup is available in Elizabeth.

    We also offer our Pottery Concierge Service for Take-Home Kits and finished pottery, with delivery fees ranging from $15-$35 depending on location.
